Below is a list of contact information for students to take a look at whilst preparing to go overseas.

Preparing to pack

Personal items to carry with you at all times:
• Flight tickets
• Passport/ travelling documents
• Visa
• Identity card/documents
• Contact details of the person who will pick you up at the airport
• The telephone number and address of your destination
• Cash (enough for 1 to 2 month’s expenditure)
• Coins (just enough for pay phones, if necessary)
• Letter of confirmation of enrolment from your school
• Mobile phone with international roaming services (for calling family)

Tips:
• Please remember to keep important documents with you at all times. Photocopies of them should be made as a backup in any case.
• Before leaving the arrival hall, please be aware whether you have any items that need to be declared. If so, please report to the staff on duty.
• Make sure that your name, personal and school addresses are listed on your luggage in case it is lost whilst being transported.
• If necessary, please purchase luggage insurance in case of any losses or damage to your items.
• Prescriptive glasses are more expensive overseas than in Hong Kong – it is suggested that students purchase another pair in case.
• Also, stationery may be more expensive overseas as well – again, it may be preferable to purchase more in case.
• Most schools have computer and technology facilities, however, students can acquire a laptop for the convenience of doing homework at home.
• It is suggested that students complete any dental procedures before leaving Hong Kong, as most insurance plans do not include so.
• Students can register for mobile and internet services as soon as they arrive, for the convenience of contacting family and friends in Hong Kong.

Cash & Documents:
• Cash (enough for 1 to 2 month’s expenditure)

• Resume
• 12 passport photos
• Receipt/evidence of payment for school fees
• Health and vaccination card/certificate
• Graduation diploma/evidence of academics
• Letter of confirmation of enrolment
• Flight tickets (please check flight number and details)
• Results for academics at school, IELTS and or TOEFL (original copy)
• Copies of previous application copies
• Financial evidence (copy of bank statements/savings)
• Copies of important document (e.g. awards/certificates)
• Drivers’ license (preferably translated into English)
• The address and telephone of destination
• Information concerning the school
• A copy of passport/travelling documents
• Cheque book and credit card

Daily necessities:
• Shoes, socks, undergarments, slippers
• A variety of clothes to suit different seasons
• Contacts and contact solution
• Sunscreen
• Nail clippers
• Brush, comb, towels, toothbrush, toothpaste, skin care products
• Umbrella/ raincoat
• Travel sized cleansing items
Note: All the above products are sold overseas as well, but students are more than welcome to bring their own.

Electronics
• Surge protectors are one of the most important items to bring when travelling.
• Adapters, surge protectors, recharge batteries, chargers, international roaming for mobile phones, laptop.

Medicine
• Generic cold/flu medicine, and any other necessary (must be packaged or prescribed)

Stationery
• Pen, pencils, markers, notebooks, post-it notes, calculators…etc.

Do not bring
• Illegal copies of CD/VCD/DVD/software
• Food (may be confiscated)
• Medicine of which the purpose for is unknown
